Capsule 5.0 - A Happy Trip
A Happy Trip is the 5th installment by Foutu World. Designed by @foutusadboy. The collection was based around the recreational use of psychedelic drugs in particular LSD . The collection took its main focus around a yellow smiley face, which is widely recognised as a symbol for psychedelic drugs.
A Happy Trip
This collection’s main focus was more graphical t-shirts, especially with Spring and Summer around the corner. All of our designs for this capsule incorporated the Yellow smiley face that we had designed.
Tab Tongue Tee
We always had a want to take a picture of someone wearing one of ours hoodies and then print it onto a tee. We then thought we could incorporate the LSD tab into this, which reminded us of t-shirts we used to wear growing up.
We tried the picture in full and then tried it on a Polaroid, we went with the Polaroid in the end as we felt it gave more character to the picture when it was placed onto the tee.
The Smiley Hoodie
Following our standard design process of taking our staple logo and recreating it with the capsules theme, we present the smiley hoodie.
Paint.exe Tab Tee
We had an idea for creating a really cartoony graphic, and as we were scrolling through some inspiration, we stumbled across the FatboySlim vinyl for his single Sunset.
We thought the graphic reminded us of a cartoon strip, which then led to see a resemblance between a tab and a cartoon box. The tab then became more of a chapter of a story than just an image on some blotter card. We then thought of a statement that could describe the trip but also have a double meaning about life as we often refer to life as our own story. There has always been a massive controversy about whether life is actually a simulation or not, so we thought why not play on this and ask the question of when does the simulation end?
I don’t do drugs tee
A short statement, that has several meanings depending on who you ask.
5 blotter tee
We couldn’t release a collection that took design inspiration from LSD without actually including any blotter card. So thats what we did, we also threw the tab graphic on the back to give the tee a bit more dimension and thought they both related well to each other.
Flowerhead tee
I had a small centred chest logo tee a while back and always had comments on how people liked the design of it, I always put it down to it having alot of colour in such a small graphic, I then wanted to create one myself. I was noting through ideas of where I could seat the smiley face, I tried things from Mickey Mouse, to Graffiti walls. I then was scrolling through Instagram and saw custom rug (custom rugs were quite a big thing at the time of writing this) that was one of Takashi Murakami’s Flowers. It was a perfect fit, so I then went onto design a flower with the yellow smiley face in the middle.
